The Sheriff Youth Week program offers a unique opportunity for young people to explore interests in law enforcement through police academy-style training, exercise programs and instructional sessions.

The Sheriff Youth Week is being held July 12 - 16, 2010 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. Free lunch will be provided. Each day's session begins and ends with one hour of rigorous exercise and drill. Each recruit will receive a certificate from the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office upon completion of the academy.

Recruits are taught by municipal, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies including:

  • Monmouth County Sheriff's Office
  • Department of Defense Police
  • United States Coast Guard
  • Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office
  • Police canine unit
  • United States Park Police
  • US Marshal's Service
  • Other agencies

The Sheriff's Youth Week is free of charge and open to all Monmouth County residents age 14 and older. Anyone interested in participating must return a signed permission slip with completed physical form to the Sheriff's Office no later than June 25, 2010.
